Application Used to select animal cells expressing the Escherichia coli gene for xanthine-guanine phosphosribosyl transferase.
Biochem/physiol Actions Mode of Action: Blocks inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase in the guanosine monophosphate pathway.
  Immunosuppressive agent. Suppresses cytokine-induced nitric oxide production.
